After the launch of Lenovo Smart Display last month, JBL has joined the league of Google smart display’s race with its new JBL Link View, to compete with Amazon Echo Show. Powered by Google Assistant, JBL Link View brings its legendary rich stereo sound with an 8” inch high-definition 720p touchscreen, setting a new bar for the new Smart Home systems.

JBL Link View boasts its two front-facing 51mm 10-watt stereo speaker (instead of 1 in Lenovo Smart display) with a rear facing passive radiator, 5mp front-facing camera and 2 PowerSwitch slider, which allows you to close camera shutter and mute microphone respectively, according to your requirement. This ensures that you can control the data, you are sharing. Weighing 1.3kg, and dimension of 332 x 152 x 100mm, JBL Link View comes with 5 hours of playtime and supports both 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi network connection. Since it is powered by Google Assistant, the whole system is voice activated by saying ‘Hey Google’ or ‘Ok Google’. You can manage your calendar, set up an event, check the weather forecast, watch YouTube videos, or make a video call using Google Duo to your friends and family. The whole system is made possible by JBL trademark transducer array, which is enhanced by a digital amplifier to provide rich bass and crystal clear highs.

new face of Google Smart Display, JBL Link View

JBL Link View comes with an oval face design, which doesn’t fit right into your kitchen, the way Lenovo Smart Display does. But it tries to cover that up, with its excellent 24 bit/96kHz sound quality. Made of premium materials, JBL Link View has a splash spoof screen(IPX4), making it easy to clean and convenient to use in kitchen or pool. It supports wireless Bluetooth streaming and has Chromecast built in with multi-room playback, to stream music, radio or podcast from your mobile device to your speakers.

While priced at $249.95, JBL Link View is expensive than Lenovo Smart Display ($200 for 8” inch model) and is expected to start shipping from September 3, 2018, for the USA only. You can pre-order JBL Link View from JBL official website.
